Read and wite access only by specific user

I have multiple users witth different group.

I want only the specified users to read and write into a directory and other users must not be able to read or write into the directory. How this can be done?

A username can be assigned to multiple groups.

1. Create a new group.
2. chmod the directory for only that group to have access.
3. Assign users to the group

I want to upload files using SFTP. Other users have to upload the files in to another users home directory. How this is possible?
