You should elaborate as to what you mean by not working. Have you looked in the log files, are you not getting challenged for a user name and password. Are you getting out at all, or getting an access denied page?

I completely agree with hysteria . Please provide us the steps that you are following along with the error_logs so that we may be able to assist you further.

Cool Thank you both of you

I’m done with that. now there is new problem I’m facing is when i remove proxy settings from ie. it won’t allow to view the web page. but previous to this i was able to view the page even i didn’t set the proxy for ie.

can we do the same for this userbase authu.?like if i open ie it has to ask username add pass. each time whether i put a proxy or not.

If you were able to view a page previously with no proxy, and now that you are no longer using a proxy you are no longer able to view that page, then this would imply the problem is not with your proxy server. That is, unless you are using a transparent proxy and I suspect you’re not.

I’m not sure what you are trying to accomplish. If you are wanting to force the use of a proxy, then doing a transparent set up is the way to go, or alternately forcing the proxy settings and then making sure your users can’t change them.

Please try to be specific in describing your problem. Exact error messages, log information, etc. You might get more people who would in turn respond.

    Thanks

I Already made transparent proxy. So previously i was able to view the page with proxy or without proxy.

But now when i implemented ncsa_user base login it didn’t filter the site as per acl i created. It opens all the sites to all the users.

Steps i taken to create a firewall as per the link provided in this site only.
    HOWTO_:_Ch32_:_Controlling_Web_Access_with_Squid#M aking_Your_Squid_Server_Transparent_To_Users

Can you people help me out in this?

Why do you want to be a super user on boot? If you don’t know the answer to that, then you probably shouldn’t be doing that. If you want a script to run on boot, simply add it to /etc/rc.local.
