newbie seeks script help – batch/auto mount & copy data discs

    Hi,
I’m totally useless when it comes to writing linux scripts. I am hoping that one of you wise folk knows of a quick solution to my problem or are interested enough to help. The problem is simple: I’ve been given a few hundred cdrs full of data that I have to dump on a hard drive. What I’m hoping is possible or out there already is a script that would run on mount, automatically copy everything into a set location on HDD and then eject disc and "wait" for the next one..and repeat. I’m sure there are backup scripts that do the opposite, but I can’t find one that automates backup FROM cdr to hdd.

If you’re familiar with auto-rip function in grip, then you’ll have an idea of what I’m after.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks so much in advance!

Use the shell, the .history is a powerfull feature of it, enter the desired ripping command once, insert cd, press enter if you’d added a && eject /dev/cdrom in the end, it will eject automatic uppon exit, then you’ll notice the cd needs to be changed, put in the new one, at the exact moment you see it close, press arrow up and enter, weee the same command gets executed.
