Thread: SFTP allow multiple users to upload file into a directory

Hi,

I have configured SFTP using openssh version-4.3. I can upload files with the user.

My requirement is to allow other specified users to upload or download the files into the same directory, and restrict some of the users to access the directory.

This requires permission setting on the filesystem level, if the directory is placed within the users home directory it is unwise to permit everybody else access, but if it is placed outside teh users domain, you can add both users to teh same group and add write/read permission to that group on the directory the files are beeing stored under.
All they need to specify is where to place the files ie:

# sftp file.ext my_user@location:/var/shared/userfiles
