changing Firefox proxy config by script

    Hello guys.

Is it possible to control the proxy configuration of FF via a script/javascript? I mean, depending on the user/group or link that is clicked, I then would want it to change the proxy on the fly.

Under FF, this is controlled by changing the values of "network.proxy.(protocol)" and "network.proxy.(protocol)_port" as i’ve seen under about:config. Is there some FF API to do this?
