Are there any other Gecko based apps you use? I can’t think of anything besides Songbird right now.
Have you head of the Prism plug-in? I am totally hooked, all my online apps I use (Gmail,Google Calendar,Nagios, etc.) have as Prism apps. It is essentially the Firefox browser with all the browsing interface items removed. Basically turns a webpage into desktop app. They still need to figure out how to force a reload or dump the cache, but other than that its nice to run with my web apps in separate processes than my browsing.

Everything I have been able to find has been either a browser or mail client. I would think with the XULRunner rutime being cross platform there would be more apps based on it. I have never used it, but the only thing I can think of is that maybe its difficult to use.

Could very well be. On the subject of Sabayon though, I actually hit a snag with it that I never have encountered before. I went to install it on one of my laptops that I want to use as a media center for my TV, and I could not get it to install at all. It kept coming up with an error halfway through the install saying that there was a problem with my "hardware" and that I should continue the install at "my own risk". I thought that was weird, so I installed it on another machine and I got the same error, on a completely different machine. So far, it’s only 1/3 machines that I have managed to get it running on! I installed the latest Ubuntu on BOTH machines that Sabayon had issues with, and the install went without a hitch, and both machines are going nice guns!

I assume that when you recommended to try Sabayon, that you had indicated to try the older version? I assume that since then, version 5.2 has come out. In the live version mode it looks nice. However, when I and someone else tried to install it, it was a completely different story. I tried the 64-bit version, using the text mode of installation, and the graphics mode. She tried the 64-bit version, then downloaded the 32-bit version. They all produced the same results. Grub provided no access to the installed OS’s on the hard drives. There was no selection menu to be had. Grub dropped the user into the text troubleshooting mode. I created a bug report, and after many attempts to cure the problem, I finally had it. I gave up! I finally installed PCLinuxOS in my tower. Now I’m at peace.
Cheers!
