Thread: Help with compile errors

Type ‘uname -a’ and see if it mentions SMP at all. Also, how much swap space do you have, and what does ‘cat /proc/meminfo’ tell you? With 256M of RAM, if you are running X, and practically anything else, it wouldn’t surprise me that it’s complaining about being out of memory. Of course, if you aren’t using X, or really much of anything else, there might be a bug in your compile.

As for the RAM, my laptop has 512MB

I’m still not sure about SMP kernels. I googled it, and the results came back discussing multi-core cpus (mine is not) and hyperthreading. lshw showed the following for the CPU:
