Sendmail: How to tell when the user last read mail

    Hi,

Im in the middle of moving mail users from one RH server to another.

I notice that when I finger the user it tells me when they login and the last time they read their mail. It will also tell me when they recieved mail last, sometimes.

    When I look at /var/spool/mail/username

the date on their spool is not the same as when finger says they last revieved mail. So which one is right. Id say the spool since that is ultimately where the mail is written. What about when mail is forwarded. is the spool by-passed completely???

    thanx,

Re: Sendmail: How to tell when the user last read

I could be very wrong, but I think the modification time of /var/spool/mail/$username is based upon when the user last recieved email, independent of whether or not they have read it.
