    text mode to graphic mode

    can somebody teach me how to login to graphic mode from text mode. And everytime i boot up it goes to the text mode.

    mode change

    if u want to jump graphical mode enter "startx" for any terminal next time this terminal use as a graphical mode ......... my contact obaid93 at hotmail dot com.........

    Salam,

    There are Five RunLevels in Linux.

    Level 0 is halt
    Level 1 is single user w/o nfs
    Level 2 is multi user w/o nfs
    Level 3 is multi user w nfs
    Level 4 is unused
    Level 5 is Xwindows
    Level 6 is reboot


    You can make changes in your /etc/inittab after that you can boot your system into CLI or GUI envoirment depends upto your requirement. To switching from CLI to GUI use command given by

    i think your default runlevel is runlevel 3.
    if u want to switch default runlevel to graphic mode u can edit the file /etc/inittab, search for the following word/phrase in /etc/inittab

    id:3:initdefault:

    to

    id:5:initdefault:


    it will switch ur default runlevel to 5 8)
