I've got an Epox Nforce 2 board and its excellent. Everything works fine, the only thing is because the onboard LAN has closed source drivers, you have to do those manually.
I have a soltek that\s running happily, but for a good featurerice ratio ASUS and ABIT seem nice.
I hear good things about EPOX as well.
For the best Linux support Tyan is the thing to go for.

What about forcedeth?
I have an ASUS that is complete crap. Even with the latest BIOS it's still not very good. Since it still runs, I haven't replaced it, but it's not very stable at all.and asus ive never seen anything go bad
