Board brand

I have a soltek that\s running happily, but for a good featurerice ratio ASUS and ABIT seem nice.

I hear good things about EPOX as well.

For the best Linux support Tyan is the thing to go for.

I've got an Epox Nforce 2 board and its excellent. Everything works fine, the only thing is because the onboard LAN has closed source drivers, you have to do those manually.

and asus ive never seen anything go bad

I have an ASUS that is complete crap. Even with the latest BIOS it's still not very good. Since it still runs, I haven't replaced it, but it's not very stable at all.
