    Hardware Advice

Hey everyone! I just got about $200 for Christmas and I'm looking at stuff to buy ;D. Does this sound like a good buy to you guys?

-MBM-KT266A-1800 Mercury KT266A Socket A USB 2.0 Motherboard with Athlon XP 1800+ Processor
-B452-1122 Just4PC ATX Mid Tower Case with 350Watt P4 and AMD Reaady Power Supply
    -U10-1902 Ultra 256MB PC2100 DDR 266MHz Memory

    For $169.97
I'm looking to get another PC to use as my 'Server' so I can keep my main desktop in flux installing new distros, testing stuff and all out fun. The server would only do minimal Web, SSH, and FTP (no X) and would be constructed with the above stuff (or similar) and hard drive and drives I currently have sitting around.

Good idea? Bad idea? Know of a place thats cheaper?

That's pretty cheap. I myself would save up a bit more, and go for the PC2700 DDR, XP2400+, and case with 400W PSU. Just a thought.

1st - let me say merry Christmas
if you have no intention of upgrading - it should be okay. but it does not support barton processors, also i have never heard of mbm mainboards. else - it is not a bad deal.

    Thanks for the advice.

I did it with a Athlon XP 2400+ instead and added a network card and it was on;y about 30$ more at tigerdirect.com. I can't wait to get it!

I just bought a XP 3000+ for 260, a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L for 105, and a pair of 256 DDR 400 for 110. All in all it came to 512 and some change. I now am empowered with the nForce 2 chipset ;D
