We have a few samba boxen at work (samba-2.2, on AIX and RH8), and there is some speculation that one of them is making itself the master browser.

If the "preferred master", "domain master" and "local master" settings have been commented out, do they default to no, or should these settings be explicitly set to "no" to ensure that the box will not become the master browser? "os level" is also commented out.

Our *nix guru believes that the settings as they are will stop the machines in question from forcing or winning browser elections. Is he correct?
