>1. How long did it take you to get a good handling of Linux?

A good handle is a relative term, I prefered using it over my mac within weeks, and was able to fix many things within months.

>2. How old were you when you first started?
Second half of freshmen year of highschool, so like 4 years ago, I was 14 (wow! so long ago!)

>3. What was your first programming language?
First real one and one I really understood, perl. I had done apple script and some stuff like that before, but perl I wrote a /program/ in.

>4. How long did it take you to get a good handle of the language?
Still working on it :P. Umm I'd say a month and I was in mad love with it, more and I had a clearer understanding on how to do things. But this was summer, and before i was too social, so a day of coding was MANY hours.

>5. How long, after you picked you Linux, did you get involved in some open source projects?
Well that perl progam I learned on I posted to sourceforge and had 2 others help me out with it. So that was less than a year after starting using linux. Linux really helped me learn to code, I had tried from Mac and Win and it just wasnt worth it. Linux was just easier to learn for, all the compilers come pre-installed.
