Re:Your PC
I bought a PC from Walmart.com for $199.
Via C3/800 (Blazingly slow, but faster than the 1.7ghz P4/Win2k computers we have here at work).
50x CD Drive
512mb PC133 Ram - upgraded from 128mb - $???
10 gig HDD
120 gig HDD - $119
TV Tuner - $50
482448 CDRW - $50
32mb TNT2 - $75 three years ago
17" HP Pavilion MultiMedia Monitor - $750 in 1996 (I'm keeping this sucker until either hell freezes over or it dies!)
M$ Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard and Mouse - $79
$1322 over the last three or four years - a lot of money for certain. The stupid thing is, I'd like to upgrade the CPU, add a DVD+-RW drive, another hdd, and a GeForceFX 5200/128mb PCI card. That would probably add about $500 more to the total cost.
Cheers

Re:Your PC
When buying a server, most companies offer linux as a (cheaper) OS option.
