Mandrake 9.2 Packages Gone

i just freshly installed Mandrake 9.2 this afternoon. i selected all of the packages that i could expect for one or two. when i rebooted, none of them were installed apparently. i cant do anything with Linux but run it and change my volume control etc. should i reinstall Linux from scratch again or should i just install the packages. if only the packages how would i get the installation to only install that

welcome to linux junior and i would not reinstall - i would install them manually - i think mandrake has a utility to install packages and there shoudl be options for it, or you could pop in the CD, open a terminal, cd to the directory where tyhey are and do a rpm -Uvh *.rpm

hello. the 'cd' is on my harddrive. and i cant open terminal either, for some reason

alright, well i got it to work. i found a command in the terminal that refreshes the menu. thanks anyways

ah - did you do a hard drive install - well you can access the ISO - make a mount point and miount it, in a terminal it can be done like this:

su - (enter roots password)
mkdir /mnt/loop
mount -o loop -t iso9660 /path/to/cdimage.iso /mnt/loop

it can then be accessed at /mnt/loop
