    riva tnt freeze with x-server

HI, im having problems with total system lock ups in suse 9.0, according to this link http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/1998/0...er_riva_e.html its to do with the drivers for my riva tnt not working with X-server. I wondered if theres a way to fix this without having to try and add an interupt for my graphics card at the BIOS level (somethign i have no idea how to do)
Any thoughts on the matter ;D ?
oh...and my curent graphic card configuration is running at
    (o) rivaTNT (nv)
    according to YAST anyway

    hello,
i had a TnT also and it locked up here is what I did

    - cut the agp rate to a maximum of 2x in the BIOS
    - use the kernel agp driver
    - set the resolution to something less than the max

what kind of mainboard is this and do the lock ups happen when starting X or while using it?

    btw - welcome to ljr

Do you have empty PCI slots on you board? If so then it might help to just move the cards around until the graphics card gets an interrupt all by itself.

Sometimes you can configure the interrupts for the various PCI slots in the BIOS but most of the time this is inherent to the mainboard design. If you can find info on what PCI slots share what interrupt in your manual then you can just make sure that there is no card in the slot that shares an interrupt with the slot your graphics card is in (be in AGP or PCI). If there is no such info in your manual then you will have to find out by trial-and-error.
