    Fvwm2 window list Q

Maybe I am missing this, but I can't seem to find anything in the man page about turning off the geometry info in the built in window list for Fvwm2. I want it to just list the program, not the window geometry.

Oh great Fvwm gurus: how do I do this?

I can't find it either. And coming to think of it I guess I never saw the WindowList without geometry info. So maybe we should assume it's not possible.

Try using the FvwmWindowMenu module instead. It's a lot more configurable than the built-in WindowList. And it has a man page.

    *FvwmWindowMenu: ItemFormat "%m%n"

will display mini-icon and name only.

    Oh, I found it!

    Code:
    Mouse 3R A WindowList NoGeometry
That does the job. Pretty simple, too!

Funny how I overlooked it in the man page at first. It's right there:

The options passed to WindowList can be Geometry / NoGeometry / NoGeometryWithInfo, NoDeskNum, NoNumInDeskTitle, NoCurrentDesk-Title, MaxLabelWidth width, TitleForAllDesks, Function funcname, Desk desknum, CurrentDesk, NoIcons / Icons / OnlyIcons, NoNormal / Normal / OnlyNormal, NoSticky / Sticky / OnlySticky, NoSticky-AcrossPages / StickyAcrossPages / OnlyStickyAcrossPages, NoStickyAcrossDesks / StickyAcrossDesks / OnlyStickyAcrossDesks, NoOnTop / OnTop / OnlyOnTop, NoOnBottom / OnBottom / OnlyOnBottom, Layer m [n], UseListSkip / OnlyListSkip, NoDeskSort, ReverseOrder, CurrentAtEnd, IconifiedAtEnd, UseIconName, Alphabetic / NotAlphabetic, SortByResource, SortByClass, NoHotkeys, SelectOnRelease.
Seems the WindowList is a lot more configurable than I thought.

Thanks, cga, for making me find this

yea - very cool. i find the fvwm man pages very thorough - but they are very large - it is easy to miss stuff - i know i do.

Fvwm really impresses me with its versitility and speed. I really find myself feeling constricted when I use Windows and don't have my nice little custom UI tweaks at hand like I do in Fvwm.

And I am just getting started with this too. ;D
