where is dns config in linux

    Hi,

How do you look up DNS config on the command line. i looked at the file /etc/sysconfi/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 but, that doesn't have any dns info eg dns server.

    where else should I look?

    thanx,

to check out the current assigned DNS servers that would be /etc/resolv.conf

The command ifconfig will tell you all the info about your network adapter.

It will also let you configure it.

    Try man ifconfig for examples.

I am at a friends now (XP unit) but I would check

    /etc/resolv.conf
    /etc/sysconfig/network

Dig around in the default profile folder too (/etc/sysconfig/netowrking/profiles/default I think, this is from memory)
