It should be ... I ran that on SuSE 8.0 Pro.
If worse comes to worse, pick 1024x768 or if 1600x1200 works that and just edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file after install.
Hello Everyone,
I have a question regarding my Suse 8.1 Professional Install. I am dual booting With Windoze Xp Pro and my resolution is set at 1280 x 1024. I cannot get this resolution with Suse. As far as I know there are no drivers available for my monitor. The resolutions 1024 x 768 & 1600 x 1200 are available but not 1280 x 1024. Is there anything I can do manually so that I can achieve this resolution? Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Brandonium.... ;D

As Schotty said, you can hand jam the config file. Open up a text editor and open /etc/X11/XF86Config and/or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (I have used both so I don't know which file is read by Suse's implementation of X). Find the spot that mentions the resolutions and put a # in front of the resolutions you don't want. Insert an identical entry for the resolution you want (minus the #).
After you save the file you will need to restart X. Just log off and then log back on and everything should be fine.
If you don't want to go through that, I suggest that you start a terminal (xterm, eterm, etc. It is usually an icon near the "Start" button that looks like a computer monitor). Once you get the terminal up, type xf86cfg and it will bring up a semi-graphical program that will allow you to change resolutions and such.
Cheers
