What Linux distro do you have? Many of them have preconfigured packages. On my SuSE 8.2 system, wine is available at install time. I think RedHat does too, and Mandrake.

This is a fairly recent list of Windows softwares known to work under WINE with no additional tweaking. Software not listed there might: A)not run at all b) have not been tested c) require some or a lot of tweaking in order for it to work .
Running software under WINE is, at best, slower than running it under Windows, and at worst, might crash your system.
