no i don't believe so. total tranparency is not something i have seen yet in linux.
I've tried the invisible theme, and the glass theme, and the klearllm theme. And they all do exactly the same thing, make it so you can see the desktop background behind them, is there a way to make it so you can see the windows as well through it? ie totally transparent.
Cheers

I know what you want to do but I believe you have to edit the source code of you wm. It wouldnt be gkrellm. It would be a modded wm.
Well that sounds like a lot of work. It must be an option in a wm out there somewhere. I'd consider using a wm that let me have invisibly windows
If you cant do it Gkrellm, Id suggest Karamba....
http://karamba.sourceforge.net -- for config help
and
http://www.kdelook.org
to dnload
I had a look at karamba, it looks interesting. I'm going to have a play with it and see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion

Hmmm, karambas idea of transparent is to be black. That is in gnome anyway, maybe gnome doesn't like transparency

It works just like gkrellm when in KDE. The only difference is that it sits behind everything, which I suppose is a way to cheat it, I would have liked it on top though. I would also thouroughly recommend people look at karamba, very very cool.
