Mp3's skip when cpu usage climbs.

Is there any way that I can set xmms to run with a higher priority so it gets more CPU usage and then doesn't skip. It usually happens when I'm browsing the net, or playing games

If you haven't tried this already increase the buffer size in the output plugin preferences. And you could try starting it with negative nice values. If everything fails maybe a kernel patch that includes the low latency thing (ck for instance).

    1st welcome, i'm new....

About priority, well if ive got you right, when you overloading your CPU your music skips and bumping right?

You need to run the program more "nice"ly...

    try using the command:
    nice

check man nice for more help,
    nice -20 xmms
    should work....

Thanks, but I think that it was just the song. I increased the playback buffer, and it still happens with certain songs. I'll give the nice a go though.
