Mandrake replacing MBR

Im trying to install mandrake without it replacing my
MBR but the install atomaticly puts lilo on /dev/hda
even if I run the install in expert mode.
Is it something I'm missing here?

I am not sure how to prevent this, since I have never used Mandrake. However, a workaround is to let it install it wher it pleases, then grab a dos boot disk, and do an fdisk /mbr. This will reinstall the Windows boot loader.
Then, you can use a rescue disk and reinstall lilo from the command line, and install it to a partition instead.

You're not missing anything. After a dozen 9.1 installs, I still haven't found a way to stop it doing this. MOST ANNOYING !!!

Like trickster says, you need to do the fdisk /mbr bit to fix it. >

That is the default, you have options on where to install lilo.
You need to select to first sector of your root partition.

I solved it by just hammer the cancel button while it was installing the boot loader, then the selection menu poped up
