I'm not sure if this version of release he has is an old one, but they had big troubles with compatible hardware.I still don't see what is keeping you from installing Windows.
Are you getting an error?

I took pro off of my computer by deleteing the partitions. I was trying to run the commands off of Windows 98 SE boot disc. This is what i might think that i got a virus because when i was running XP pro it was restarting the computer by itself. My Uncle said it did the samething for him too. It restart automatically. Well i like to set up and format my partitions manually. XP pro allows you to do that. XP home does not. It will automatically install it to the C: drive. XP pro i could choose what drive to put it on. Hope that helps. Please reply back trickster. Thanks.

You DO not need to use the Windows 98 floppy for anything at all.

sorry guys but i'm going to get off topic for one second. I have a question for stryder144. Would you please help me in the hardware issues?? Please reply over to that post. Thanks stryder144.
1 good thing since yesterday or early today the virus is gone. I don't know how many bad thing there are but my MBR might be screwed up, my C: drive does not register, my hard drive might be bad, oh i might i have some kind virus in my sectors. Right now i'm running XP off of my D: drive that's why i couldn't format my partitions manually. I have a kind of small program that my uncle sent me in e-mail as a winrar and it's called Spinrite. I'm going to run that near bed time because it's going to take for ever. I really don't have the money to buy a new hard drive. fdisk /MBR did not take care of nothing for me. Does anyone know some way that i can get my C: drive to register?? Would it be possible to go in my MBR and how do i?? and the answer is no i don't know how to read the MBR because i have no clue how to read hex notation. oh how about this. How can i take a snapshot of my MBR and you guys could look at it for me?? Please reply back. Thanks guys.

Boot off a linux cd. Use cfdisk or fdisk under linux (cfdisk preferably, because it has a better user interface.) Erase all partitions and create new ones. That should do the trick. You will loose your data, though.
trickster. Why linux?? I'm using XP. Then i have to create /boot, / and swap and there linux partitions. Can linux make windows partitions?? Should i just install RH linux 8 in command mode?? I don't get it. Please reply back. Thanks.
You do not need to install linux. You do not need to make linux partitions.
Take, for example, the slackware install cd. Boot off it. Then, instead of typing "setup", just do cfdisk or fdisk. You can create your partitions then. Partitions are not OS dependan. Certain file systems might play nicer with certain OS's though.
Just create your partitions and do not format then or assign them any file system. None at all. Nothing. Then reboot and boot from the Windows cd and format the partitions as Fat32 or NTFS.
trickster. I tryed using fdisk in Redhat 8 and i had no clue on how to use fdisk in linux. ok let's talk more about my hard disk. Early today i tryed installing MS-DOS 6.22 on my C: drive. Of couse it had to format it first. So while it was formatting. I get a message that says something like this. There was an error detected on your Primary hard disk partition so it stopped formatting. So there is really something wrong with my C: drive if DOS can't automatically format it. Please reply back.
Ok, the first thing you need to do is stop using DOS or Windows 98 disks, or whatever.
Next, follow these install instructions, STEP BY STEP. If you see ANY error message, write it down EXACTLY, and then post it. We'll take it from there.
