    Redhat 8 & Laptop

Hi Everyone - i've been away from linux for a while, but i'm back with some more questions now!

I'm about to get rid of my desktop system and get a shiny new laptop, which will come with windows xp installed and which i'd like to use redhat 8.0 on as well. I've got a dual boot setup at the moment on my desktop with windows Me and i'm happy with setting that up, but i'm a bit worried about xp - specifically, i believe it uses NTFS and i've been told that this will cause problems! any advice?

also, is there anything i need to know about installing redhat on a laptop

Eg will it recognise the touchpad?
can i use the touchpad and a mouse and how do i switch between them, and will it recognise an external usb soundcard (i think the laptop's sound is bound to be awful so i'd like to do something about it!)

    thank you all very much,
    paul

You can use both the mouse plus the touch pad. Thas how I set up my bro's laptop. The sound of the speakers is awful but when my bro connects it to his amp or better speakers it sounds as good as any other computer's soundcard.

You might want to try out SuSE. It detected everything ok. Other distro's had some problems with sound SuSE didn't.

USB -- should be a breeze

Mice x2 -- just add in a few goodies to your XF86Config file. I forget the specifics, but adding in a new mouse section for whatever needs to be added (like the mouse, because the touchpad already is activated) plus a section that states (and this is where I am fuzzy) which is the primary mouse and the secondary. Both will work fine. Set the primary one to the mouse if you play games. Trust me ;D

Ill dig up the specifics, but it is in the manpage entry for XF86Config.
