Run game on a different terminal

Is this possible? Id like to run say RTCW on ctrl+alt+f8 terminal so I could just ctrl+alt+f7 back to the desktop. Kinda like in Windows how u can alt+tab outta the game so you can still see an IM or IRC channel or such. How can I make my games open up in another tty ?

Man I really would like to know the answer to that. That would be cool. That way I can reply to a im and go back to my game.

I think it can be done, by running more than one xserver. Ngene has an article on it on her website.

startx -- :2 from a console fires up a second X session on the next available tty.

if you have two video cards you could even have like KDE on one desktop and a game on the other, that'd be cool.

well maybe the kde part wouldn't :-P
