SCO Attacks Red Hat and SuSE

CRN reports that SCO will target SuSE and Red Hat with lawsuits regarding their UNIX kernel IP, after they are done with IBM. According to Sco, "There will be a day of reckoning for Red Hat and SuSE when this is done"

United Linux -- SCO, SUSE, Conectivia & ????

Anyways, I guess this means BYE BYE to United Linux if SUSE is Attacked.

    Now what was that saying..................

United we stand, Divided SCO shall crumble.

Attempting to follow the link to the full story results in a "this page is temporarily unavailable" thingy. Did CRN pull the story for legal issues or is this just because it's getting so many hits? Is there anywhere the full story may be found?

Oh, and did Microsoft pay SCO to do this to the Open Source Community? If not, they got a real bargain! Hell, they got a real bargain if they paid a million dollars for it. Well done, Santa Cruz Operation - or should I start calling you Stupid Careless Oafs? Way to stifle innovation and creativity in a way Microsoft could never have managed on their own! (Fortunately, ZDNet has some info on this affair - if I can find the link again I'll post it....)

So smite me, already! This steams me up a bit - a third rate software company who never did anything more important than buy what eventually became SCO Xenix, er Unix, then proceeded to price that product out of the marketplace and then squat on it, and who ruined Caldera/Digital Research by absorbing them now aims to make their mark by attempting to appropriate Linux for themselves? Why else sue over this specious red-herring IP issue? What SCO is attempting to do is theft, pure and simple. It's a shame they don't have more market share than they do, because then they'd respond to a BOYCOTT of their products.

Dr. Gary Kildall must be spinning in his grave. ??? >
