Onw piece of advice. Pick ONE operating system, and stick to it! Learn it, then when you feel the need to change (like after a year or two of working with one OS) then change. Solaris in my honset opinion will not suit the needs you are requesting. To learn some of the ways that it works takes knowledge in Linux and/or UNIX.

If you are really wanting the learn Solaris, go to your local bookstore and buy a book on it. I assure you it will make things a lot easier. Same goes for when you learn any other operating system that is new to you.
