Actually all you need to do is FDisk drive and delete all partitions - there's no need to make any new ones. The run the Compaq utility and it'll make the partitions for you. Where's the part tha't's untested by men: Go ahead and install the distro of your choice. Given that Compaq's utility uses Grub as a bootloader (and you have to assume it's on the MRB) I can't help but wonder if installing the bootloader on the MRB for RH would wreck with the Compaq installed one. I'm sure you could use some of the Linux utilities to get it right (assuming Compaq didn't do something really screwy to Grub) but it would entail more than I could help you with.

    Hope that helps...

All of your posts helped! Thanks.

I actually finished this project, and am now enjoying RH 9 on the Armada. Man, is it different from RH 6.2. I have one issue with screen resolution to tweak (it's displaying in 800x600 instead of the 1024 that I know it can handle.)

    And for completeness sake...

I accomplished this by fdisking the drive, reformating a (very) small dos partition. Then I ran the RH setup and away I went. I used a win98 setup floppy to boot from the first time.
