Yeah same here. I don't see how we can ever get rid of spam.

I wonder if there is an easy way to hook up spam assassin to Thunderbird. I like to IMAP my email so it might take some doing tho.

I agree with kungfuramone9 tho, Thunderbird's spam filer is nice but still lets alot through.

Although it lets a lot through, I have never had Thunderbird block an email that I actually wanted, unlike spamassassin. Plus, thunderbird is alright once you train it properly.

True, Thunderbird is a snap to set up and has never deleted mail I have wanted. I must just get too much spam for the old bird to keep up with, cause out of the 100 to 150 spam messages I get a day it still manages to miss at lease 20 or 30. But I can complain till I am blue in the face, it has still saved me alot of time.

I never get that much spam mail, how on earth do you get that much? I think it is annoying that I might get one or two a week, but 100-150 a day is ridiculous. THose spammers are real bastards.

Truedat. And they've even formed an unholy alliance with the virus / worm writers...several of the latest worms (read: last year and a half or so) install trojans which advertise ports for spammers to relay spam off of. Nearly every mail server is so locked down at this point they're getting desperate for relay hosts. Unfortunately, they still have enough to inundate my freakin' inbox...

Convicted spammer should get some cozy warm jail time, then need to register as email-offenders, and they should be barred from using a computer for 10 years after they get out...and their heads should be shaved and spray painted pink, just so I know to kick them in the shin when they walk by.

I would say they should have an hour of community service per unsolicited E-mail they sent out (EVER) and until that is completed they cannot be withen 100ft ofa computer Prison would just take away from society while community service would contribute to it, most spammers arent dangerous and dont need to be incarcerated, just forced to give back to the community that they annoyed the shit out of so many times.

I'm down with that. Their community service should be along the lines of cleaning up after hobos under bridges or cleaning public restrooms...in train stations...in the worst parts of the worst cities in the world...
