Hey all

Well I finally got fed up with the school charging $0.08 per page so I decided to get my own printer. I found a sweet deal on a Lexmark Z32 and decided to jump on it. The thing prints like a dream from Windows, and there are linux drivers available. I grabbed them from lexmark's website, and everything seemed to install fine. However, whenever I try to print a test page, I get this:

lpr: unable to print file: client-error-document-format-not-supported

Does anyone know what's up with this? Any suggestions on how to get printing up and running? Thanks.

You might want to give Linux Printing.org a try. They have some NICE instructions on how to use different printing services for many many printers. Unfortunately that model only works partially under linux.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks. It claims it works partially, but that's only with the free lxm3200 drivers. Lexmark includes an official driver for the Z32 in rpm format that I managed to get on my gentoo box. Now it's just a matter of getting it to work, and figuring out how to use it with cups.

Alright...I got it entered in cups, using the lexmark drivers and foomatic. However, when I try to print I get a client-error-not-possible error. Anyone ever had this?

Got it! I had to install the commercial drivers, and then grab some sort of custom lexmark foomatic from http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...um=Lexmark-Z32 and install that. My Z32 is humming along quite happily, using CUPS with beautiful quality Thanks for the help!
