what is so good about vim?
no need to use mouse
macros
lots 'o' tools - e.g. vimdiff, vim hex editor...
vim or emacs? I just can't deside, I have played with both. I like vim for being light but them again I like emacs for not being light and having everything I need. Do I buy the vim book or the emacs book? What I'm likely to use an editor for: coding, invoices, poems, letters and editing. I'm dy3lexic so anything which can help with spell check on the fly is a big help. I know how to do this in emacs but not in vim. I seem to be leaning towards vim though for it's cleanness.
So emacers what's so good about emacs?
So vimers what's so good about vim?

i do all of my php development in VI
Gotta love it
vim
My brain just cannot comprehend vi(m). Switching between typing and the command line just confuses the hell out of me. I'm trying to type something and uh-oh i forgot to press I first for Insert and it start doing all kinds of crazy things.
I know the power vi(m) has, but it's user interface is just something out of hell.
Vim. NO question.
i use vim even though my brain can't keep up with typing and deleteing and all that even though I have used it for like 3 years. I generally use vim though, I also like PICO a lot.
VIM is starting to piss me off, I'm considering trying out emacs.
bah vimacs perfect balance between the two. vimacs will rule all :P

Yup, modal interfaces are evil. That's why I use JOE. Very simple to learn editor with all the power of vi and none of the anoying "i"/"esc" stuff.
