i'm still trying to get k3b to now see it as a reader but thats ok I can make .iso from the command line right ???

I think the link it loos for the reader in is /dev/cdrom. Have you checked if you have permissions to it?
Do you get the same thing if you run it as root?
I do not have permissions to it. I get the same error when I run it as root.
I installed k3b on my laptop, and I am getting the same thing.
The link for the kernel source does not work, do you know of another one so i can get the nvidia drivers working?
