i /think/ you go to the Connect to server thing and type in smb://ipaddress/share
but i dunno for sure
I've got samba running great in "workgroup" mode under Slack 8.1 for acting as a file server for our Win2k machines. Our sole Mac just got put back in service, running OS X (not sure what point version). How can I get it connected to my smb shares ?

That seemed to work for me using OS X Jag.
Could you do a "mount -t smbfs /mount/point /remote/smb/share" ?
I don't use Os X yet, so I'm actually curious. I'm planning to buy an ibook for my wife this summer.

i don't know, but it'd prolly have to be //remote/smb/share not just /remote/smb/share, that's the way samba for linux works at least.
