I'm thinking it could be arts causing the problem. Or esound if you're using gnome. I know that I couldn't make the sound work when I was running KDE with arts enabled.
RTCW ran like a champ in Slack 8.1. Now in 9.0 I get no sound. Everything is a fresh install, stock, basic config, cmedia chipset running as module, all other sound devices work, Xmms, Gnome/KDE sounds, etc ..
sound is on /dev/dsp, game config looks for /dev/dsp, nothing apparently wrong, nothing else running using the soundcard ... just no sound in Wolf.
Don't have a clue.

I tried running the game from twm and same deal, n sound. I've had problems in the past with artsd, but with Slackware 8.1 it all worked fine. Now with 9.0 it doesn't.
