Domain Name Hosting retrieval of domain?

Hey all this may be challenging, We are enrolling our Grandson in a Charter school who has a website and domain being hosted out of someones garage. To date, the "Hosting Service" has taken their money and then well became unreachable.

Is there a way to have the schools registered domain name information changed to another hosting service without the initial hosting service being contacted?

    Thanks

    Ras

Yes. Just contact your domain name provider ( such as NetSol or Tucows ) and change the DNS server to different service provider. Some domain providers let you change it via web interface.

For example, I use www.mydomain.com for my domain needs on some of the names that I maintain. So if I want to change it, all I need is user ID and password and that's it. I can change it to www.mydns.com's server ( which is basically owned by mydomain.com ) or to my other hosting providers.
