In Lovechild' house, Windows cracks you

I'm in a kind of an odd dilemma, I'm sitting here with a brand new computer, and orginal copy of Windows XP Professional.... and a person who actually wants to use it.

And now Windows shows its ugly head, I can't activate my copy, it says I'm not connected to the internet, which is CLEARLY a lie, since I'm typing this on the very same PC.

oh and a sidenote... a Pentium 4 2.54GHz with 1GB of DDR266, A Radeon 9700 and 2x80gb HDs in RAID0 kick butt even on Windows. My buyer is going to love this PC, even though he only wants it to play Counterstrike and some text adventure game (go figure - but I built it after his specs...)

oh that. I had to do that for dad. Take a look on something like KaZaAlite for xp keygen and activator.... If you want I can put it on the net.. Run the keygen, it will make you a good key, save it somewhere, run the activator (it will want to reboot) and put the key in.

NOTE: this may or may not be correct, I did this a long time ago.

and their installer is so infintely stupid, I can't even read a driver of a CD... no no, I had to find a computer with a floppy drive and copy the driver from the CD to the floppy.

and now comes the fun bit... It appears I have to use a peice of illegal software to get my money' worth... what's up with the redmond rednecks ??

Heres a better way:
Pro Corp has no activation what-so-ever.
And call M$ if you need to. They'll give u a activation number free of charge.

But be careful, they keep record of how much times u registered and they will get suspecious. I've actually formatted my box with XP on it so much times that the one guy said "and what was your reason for formatting THIS TIME?"

My main problem is that I don't want to call Microsoft... Why should I, I'm on the net, I should be able to register my copy online.. by it doesn't work.

So here's what I did, I scoured down one of those < 30 years youngsters and borrowed a pirated copy for Windows XP (there's a first for everything) - low and behold.Windows now works... Strangely the pirated copy wouldn'r accept my orginal key, so I had to generate one also... but then I changed it post install and it now works as perfect as Windows can.

I have be become a theif to make it work without calling tech support.

it only took me.... 9 tries to make it work... wow. Their install sucks more than the ncurses debian installer, it's so poorly designed.

Anyways, I filled my hd with nice software - he's now on XP SP1 with Mozilla, StarOffice 6.0 DK and AntiVir. I considered buying WindowBlinds for him, so he could make Windows look good / this Luna theme is so ugly it hurts me.

Oh yeah and as a joke I put a Penguin wallpaper on it with the text.. Linux Desktop.

I swear this will be the last time I install Windows for anyone, I was up till 2am this morning making it work.. When I first got the computer assembled I had RedHat 9 working in a matter 30 mins or so, Windows took me... I definately didn't get paid enough... let's say that.

Is it just me or is Windows XP unbelievablely slow, even on this sweet machine.. it's horrible to use... I wonder how Windows users live with it.

Well my bro has a nice machine and now with the crap he has installed which isn't much the machine crawls. Windows crawls after awhile. That's one of the main reason I use linux. My bro was once was a penguin now i've lost him
