YAY! A decent review I thought, although I have no clue what he means by "spinning empty CD forever when using Drake tools" I never got that.....I thought he shoulda went over the installer more as it is the best/easiest/most polished Linux installer ever. And he didnt mention the other kernels, theres of course a smp kernel and a new mm kernel (multimedia) with various patches on it (low latency and such).

    PS- thanks PB!

Drake on the laptop, the new installer has given both me and my dad trouble. It seems to have an uninitialised variable that causes an overflow at random times.

9.1 is the best drake yet, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.

    A slight update:

My father brought himself a new computer a few days ago, and much to his disappointment he was completely unable to make Mandrake 9.1 find his USB and NIC (onboard stuff by SIS)... He spend days searching the net from WinXP (which according to him is pure hell), and no solution.

I told him today that I downloaded RH9, and guess what... EVERYTHING, even his new DVD burner worked out of the box... So despite his love for Mandrake, hell he forked over for a club membership and a power pack (8.2) for the family, he is now a happy RedHat user.

Why would that be an issue, RedHat is american - and according to many people here, I'm anti american - doesn't stop me from enjoying and liking the work of the community - Linux doesn't stop at the border... most things don't.
