    Gentoo PET?

I was thinking it's been awhile since I've done a PET - and I was thinking about doing one for Gentoo introduction, installation and day to day usage.

What would you the Gentoo newbie like covered?

I have an Alcatel speedtouch usb, I would like to see:
    - how to setup the thing during installation to allow connection to the internet and download the sources
    - how to install the whole system with an offline system ie, downloading the (required base system files, portage tree etc..) and burn them to a cd and install from them without an internet connection.

That's rather specific to some hardware I do not own... If you could point me to some information on how this stuff dials up and what you normally do to connect - I would be happy to look into it.

    2)
I do something like this myself, I have all my sources on my server and just mount it during the pre compile fase to save download time, and save the OSS projects the money (bandwidth costs - no need to download it twice).
But I'm guessing you mean, how to download all the sources need for a basic system so you can do this for a completely offline system.. that requires a bit of work, but portage comes packaged so you can download that at least - and all the tarballs are public access, just grab them from a mirror and burn them.

But I'll see what I can do.

i say just try to simplify the installation process for newbies to understand it a bit more, thatd be really cool man its a nice idea you have to make the PET for it.

How about the basic gentoo specific stuff, like basics of portage, etc-update, rc-update etc?
