RAID5: adding additional drive diff speed

    Hi,
I have a server with a RAID5 configuration over 5 disks. I'd like to add one more but the only one that the manufacturer has is of different speed(10k rpm ) the originals are 7.2k rpm.

    does this make a difference?

    thanx,

I think the slowest drive in the chain determines the overall speed for RAID0 at least - I think the formula for that is (number of drives) x (slowest drive in chain)

I'm guessing that the same applies to RAID5 - I could be wrong though.
