I just installed debian and want to change the XDM login manager but don't know how, Can somebody give me a clue about this. I have installed KDM but need to know where to make it the default login manager.

in /etc/inittab you should see something mentioning it. change this to the full path of gdm or kdm or whatever you want to use. if you dont want a xdm then change the default run level to 3. you might want to man inittab before editing that file

When you start using KDM, you might also check out the PETs. There is one about adding WMs to the drop-down list in KDM. Might even work in XDM. Same script actually.
