vim's great, and cross-platform to boot!
When I feel like an actual IDE and not just a syntax highlighter, I use eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org/ ) for java or kdevelop for C++.

Like everyone else I use VIM. The only time I use anything else is when I am programming QT stuff in which I use KDevelop.

Anjuta is pretty nice for C++
I use Komodo2 exclusively for perl

Komodo2 looks interesting. What advantages does it have over strong editors such as vim?

i use anything for an editor, just give me an open file to type to and a save command and im good ;D
for cli i use pico and vi, but gui i used bluefish and beaver
