Opera for Linux 7.0.0 Preview 1 is out

I just downloaded it and I'm posting this from the new Opera 7. I've used it for about half an hour now, so I can't really judge the product yet. As a Preview 1, I guess it's fair to expect it to be a bit on the buggy side.

My first impressions:

The new interface has all kinds of cool-looking useless eye-candy drops here and there. I don't know what the Winblows version looks like, so I can't compare.

For me, the new Opera seems to render web pages just as quickly or even more quickly than 6.11. I'm on 56k, and I don't know how fast the pages render on better connections. Seems like Opera is still the fastest browser on my system. :P

Overall, Opera 7 seems to render web pages better than the old versions, and support for some CSS features seems to be a lot better now.

When exiting, Opera doesn't automatically give me the option to save session anymore... weird and confusing. I guess I'll have to do some RTFMing. Anyway, I can save different serssions under different names.

After half an hour, no crashes... let's see when this thing crashes the first time, or when I bump into some annoying bugs.

Right now Opera 7 seems to be worth using.

NGene: Does 7.1 have email included? I have heard that Opera 7 for Linux did but 6.11[the version I have] is the last one offered at opera.com. Free OperaMail leaves everything to be desired, IMNSHO.

What do others think about Opera?

I'm supprised to see that banner in the Linux Beta version! AFAIK there are not banners in the Non-Purchased Windows Download Version.

But it can be a weapon that you can wield. Just tell the unsuspecting foe to visit the site with Linux and Opera 7. Then evil winged demons will attack.

OR just load it up, and aim the monitor away ... wither way, your vengeance will be reapt.
