Thats warp 2.2, roughly, according to my trusty Star Trek Encylclopedia
that should say sound not light.
mach 1 is the speed of sound they were doing mach 18 , 18 times the speed of sound.
hehehehe , gotta love the press ;D
You would think that someone at CNN would have a least a basic grasp of physics!
Of course I have delt with the press on science issues myself, and been horribly missquoted and taken out of context, so what do I expect?

Holy crap yeah. Same thing on computer related stuff. I remember getting a call at the University wanting to talk to a professor about evil hackers and the professor called him self a hacker .... so they didn't have him in it.
