ya i know about that lol my 8500 worked great and then i up graded (or should i say downgraded) to the 9600 XT total BS the 8500 handled every thing, and the 9600 (even w/ the new drivers from ATI) the card cant handle any thing; the screen saver, "ET", or XMMS Visuals for that matter

the "official" ati drivers suck in comparison, but people seem to forget to mention that ati _does_ give out the information needed so that people can write accelerated drivers for their cards. dri does quite a good job.

I got a computer upgrade, only to face the fact that my graphics card does not support 3D acceleration under Linux. The crappy thing is that it works under Windows, so I have to use windows to play games :x

you know, you can buy a Geforce FX (low end, but still damn good for quake3) for ~$50. That is if you have an AGP slot

Yeah, I know. I still have some other things that I'd like to get for my computer before I get a new graphics card. Not to mention, broadband internet soon! :w00t:
