Thread: Basic Internet Infrastructure

    Basic Internet Infrastructure

Is it possible to mimic the setup of a Linux Server running DNS, Mail server, and Apache internally? I mean on my own network, not really connected to the internet (it's like a basic internet infrastructure in my home). I just want to have a basic idea of how DNS, Mail server, Apache, and the Internet works. Can someone just guide me (or pls. give me an overview) on how to approach it or which one to setup first. Thank you for your understanding.

Sure, it can be done. I did it just to test stuff out. Get the DNS server up, and put it in /etc/resolv.conf so you can resolve fake domain names to IP's on the LAN . Then just get Apache and whatever else set up and you're on your way. It's not that difficult.
