So I downloaded and compiled apache and php. Great.

I added the following lines to httpd.conf

LoadModule php4_module lib/libphp4.so
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddModule mod_php4.c

Great.

I load apache. No errors. Wonderful. I load a php page. I get the source. So, I run httpd -X and what do I see?

[Thu Jan 23 12:48:50 2003] [warn] module mod_php4.c is already added, skipping

Needless to say, I searched the file and only found AddModule mod_php4.c ONCE... contrary to what Apache says. Any ideas?

Oh yeah, Apache is putting out the php source instead of the scripts output. (I compiled with '--with-apxs' and a few other flags)
