    Workgroup

    I recently added a Linux computer to my existing network of two Windows XP workgrouped computers. (This is my first experience with Linux). I added the Linux computer to the workgroup using Samba following the help instructions. Both xp computers show the Linux computer on the workgroup. When I try to access it, I get the following message;

    \\ Localhost is not accessible....The Network path was not found.

    Subsequent attempts to access it opens the shared files on the computer I am working from.

    The Linux computer shows a Windows Network Icon, however, when I open the window network there are no networked computers visible.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Workgroup

    Hi
    First change the name of your linux box.
    edit the file /etc/sysconfig/network and give hostname there,also make changes in /etc/hosts file. check /etc/samba/smb.conf file give same workgroup as your windows Xp work group.restart the linux machine,
    sometimes due to iptables samba gives the problem so stop the service of iptables . now try to connect .
    All the Best

    Himanshu

    Thanks, it was the iptables keeping me from connecting.
