C'mon, no ideas?
Using Slack 8.1 with X from CVS, gnome 1.4 (whatever ships with slack 8.1). When my monitor goes to "sleep" and blackscreens, when I come back, there is a trace of the mouse left on the desktop somewhere. At the moment, is is that big fat X cursor, sitting smack in the middle of my screen. Changing to a VT and back to X has no effect - only way to get rid of it is to either kill X and restart, or let the screen go black again and hope the ghost shows up somewhere less noticable.
Any ideas?
Thanks

hello,
i guess i will take a stab at this - 1st -is this a laptop?
next - does this show up using other window managers?
next! is the power saving coming from using xfree86 options (option dpms in the moniter section) or xset +dpms ?
No, this is a desktop. No DPMS section in X config, and no DPMS via xset.
I dont recall the specifics, but there was somethingt about GPM and some device drivers for X a bit back. I dont know if this was ever resolved, but try killing off gpm and see if that helps.
I hate gpm, so I didn't even install it....
Does your wm have a refresh option? (I know that's no solution, but it might be slightly less annoying)
ph34r -- for shits and giggles, what vid card do ya have? Perhaps its the card, not Linux.
And for the DPMS impaired, how exactly would I go about setting up DPMS on my system so I could duplicate (if possible even) the error? I never liked DPMS hence my non-setup (hey, its got PMS in the name -- all men should fear that).
