Soooo your saying I should get a D-Link? Any low priced Router+Switches? And do I even need a switch? No one has been able to explain to me why I need to connect a 4 port switch to my 4 port hub!

Switches are nice, but most useful when mixing NIC types (10's 100's and gig speeds). Hubs will not create a link at 100 speed if there are 10's on the network between two or more 100 interface. Switches will make the link at the best possible speed.

Switches also are better for security. You cant sniff on a switched network.

Other than that, get what you feel like spending on.

Thanks for the info. I allready have a hub so I guess I'll just pic up a router and get a switch in the near future.

    I ordered a D-Link DI-604 ... lets hope it isn't broken as well :P.

I had an issue similar to this. A firmware upgrade fixed this just fine.

I tried updating the firmware but unfortunatly it didn't change anything. I did, however, get AOL Parental Controlls in the Admin menu ???

That's a sweeet router! 604, or 604+? Wireless? Is it one of the Silver flat like routers? XP style config screen? Probably so.

Go into 'setup' (I believe), go to status, and should have a DHCP release, and renew. If there are already IP's, leave it alone you are connected.

I guess I don't know where the problem stands now, since the question kinda dropped off. :P

    604. Silver flat. Works without a hitch. I pluged it in, used it's web wizzard and didn't even have to think.

    hehe.

So what are your thoughts about D-Link so far?

You have the DYNDNS option too don't you. At least you should. I think the latest firmware for that router is rev 2.10, and has that, and several other cool features. Really like the new filter arrangment they made. really coool!
